This past weekend, FDM was represented at the Ocean City Film Festival by Creative Director Nick Szpara. His film, “Made in America” was selected and screened with other short horror films Saturday night.
The OC Film Festival is in its second year, and Nick has had short narrative films selected by the festival both years. “Made in America” was made as part of the Washington DC 48-Hour Horror Film Project, where it was nominated for:
- Best Directing
- Best Writing
- Best Cinematography
- Best Actress
- Best Sound Design
- Best Art Direction / Production Design
- Best Use of Prop
- Best Villian
- and the Producer Award
The entire project from concept to delivery was made in under 48 hours. You can check it out here: https://vimeo.com/259731055
Organized by the Art League of Ocean City, the film festival draws local filmmakers as well as international artists. This year, over 100 films were screened, ranging from short animations to feature documentaries. Nick was happy to represent at the festival, meeting a lot of awesome filmmakers, and participating in workshops and filmmaker Q&A’s. It was also extremely weird to explore the beach town in the off-season, with all the shuttered shops and empty amusement parks.
He’s looking to have another project to submit to festivals for next year, so stay tuned!
